How reliable are gate automation systems
As with everything there is a certain amount of you get what you pay for with gate automation systems. Having said this a large element of the reliability of a system lies in how well it is installed. A cheap system well installed willl probably be more reliable than an expensive system poorly installed. Things to look for include make sure that the automation system is well specified for the weight of the gate and anticipated number of operations. We would normally look to allow a tolerance of at least 30% on the gate equipment specification. In addition we would make sure that reliable externally rated cables are installed.
